Do I need to pay deposit for water and electricity bills in UK?
How much is it normally for a commercial office?
thanks
You don’t have to with every company, but many major companies will require you to pay a big deposit. If you decide to go with a smaller company, you can usually get a lot better deal.

Hotel California – The Eagles (1976)
“Hotel California” was the title song from the 1976 album of the same name by the American rock band The Eagles and was released as a single in February 1977. It is one of the best-known songs of the album-oriented rock era. Writing credits for the song are shared by Don Felder, Don Henley and Glenn Frey. The original recording of the song features Henley singing the lead vocals and concludes with an extended section of electric guitar interplay between Felder and Joe Walsh. “Hotel California” topped the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for one week in May 1977. Three months after its release, the single was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America representing 1,000,000 records shipped. The Eagles also won the 1977 Grammy Award for Record of the Year for “Hotel California” at the 20th Annual Grammy Awards in 1978. In 2009, the song “Hotel California” was certified Platinum (Digital Sales Award) by the RIAA for sales of 1,000,000 digital downloads. The song is rated highly in many rock music lists and polls. Rolling Stone magazine, for example, placed it as the 49th greatest song of all time. It is also one of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll. The song’s guitar solo is ranked 8th on Guitar Magazine’s Top 100 Guitar Solos. As one of the group’s most popular and well-known songs, “Hotel California” has been a concert staple for the band since its release. “Hotel California” was an album released by The Eagles in December 1976. It is the first Eagles album without founding member Bernie Leadon and the first album with Joe Walsh. It is also the last album featuring original bass player and singer Randy Meisner. “Hotel California” was The Eagles’ fifth album of original material and became a critical success and a major commercial hit. Since its release, it has sold over 16 million copies in the U.S. alone. The album was at #1 for eight weeks in early 1977 (non-consecutively). The Eagles are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1971 by Glenn Frey (born November 6, 1948), Don Henley (born July 22, 1947), Bernie Leadon (born July 19, 1947) and Randy Meisner (born March 8, 1946). The band’s membership over the years has also included Don Felder (born September 21, 1947), Timothy B. Schmit (born October 30, 1947) and Joe Walsh (born November 20, 1947). With five number one singles and six number one albums, The Eagles were one of the most successful recording artists of the 1970s. At the end of the 20th century, two of their albums, “Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975)” and “Hotel California”, ranked among the 20 best-selling albums in the U.S. ever. The Eagles broke up in July 1980, but reunited in 1994 for “Hell Freezes Over”, a mix of live and new studio tracks. They have toured intermittently since then, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. Need help working out the cost of a bulb in electricity bills in its lifetime?
The homework question i am stuck on is:
b) One kilowatt-hour of electricity costs 8p. Use the following equations to calculate the total cost of using the filament bulb for its lifetime (1000 hours) The bulb is 150 watts
It also gives you two equations:
units=power x time
cost of electricity= energy transferred x price per unit
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks,
Drew.
"units=power x time" is correct ONLY if units means kW-hours, power is in kW, and time is in hours. Otherwise the equation is incorrect. I’d phrase it as
number of kW-hours = number of kW x number of hours.
second equation is also not correct. I’d phrase it as
cost of electricity = energy used in kW-hours x cost per kW-hour
So whoever wrote these is guilty of some very sloppy work.
150 watts = 0.15 kW
0.15 kW x 1000 hours = 150 kW-hours
150 kW-hours x 8p per kW-hour = 1200p or 12 pounds
.
I keep getting electricity bills for a previous resident – now they are threatening to install a meter?
Can Southern Electric install a pay as you go meter for a previous resident.
I changed to British Gas when I moved in.
You need to let British Gas know and they will have to get in contact with Southern Electric to sort it out.
What gas & electrice provider should I go with?
I am a first time buyer. I have to change everything over to my name but wanted to know how i go abouts on picking what gas and electric supplier I should go with.
How do you know you are getting the cheapest deal?
I have searched on some of the price comparison website but it askes the figures for how much gas and electric I would use in a year. I am not sure what this would be because I never had to pay for electric or gas before as I was living with parents.
Any tips or advise would be appriciated.
Thanks
Everything you did was correct. You need to search a price comparison. When I bought my first house, the pervious owners provided me with a statement of how much gas, water, heat, etc that they used over the past 5 years to give me an idea of how effecient the house and utilites were. I would contact your previous owners and ask them for some sort of statement to see how much they used to you can find out who can give you the best deal. Good Luck!
