Ok from experience is gas cheaper than electric heat?

  • May 29, 2011 10:23 am

I found this great apt in ma prob is its heated by electric I wanna know if its cheaper to have gas heat or electric heat or vice versa if u have electric heat how much would u pay to jeat a 2bd 1ba a month. Ty much

Much to consider here. You say its an apt, is it an upper or lower, side by side, tenant house. Upper will steal some heat loss from the lower, however you will lose more through an uninsulated attic space than you’ll get from downstairs. Insulation, is there any, how much, how old is the place, it may be better insulated if it is newer. If it is a tenant house, the whole building will be warmer, so it will cost you less, especially if your not an end unit. You could call the utility company for the average usage of the last tenant, but it would be much more accurate if you could get them (the last occupant) to give you their actual costs of their electric.(the problem with getting the average from the utility is that the last tenant may have gone away in the winter or preferred to dress much warmer to offset their usage). Heating with electric is usually more expensive(but it can be done economically if your work at it), however if the city your in is a municipality they may get/give very good rates for their electric. Best to find all this out for sure yourself before you make up your mind.

I live in an area that has 3 municipalities near by and they pay 3-4 cents per kwh everyone has electric heat- gas is NOT ALWAYS cheaper!!!!Never say never/always there are exceptions.

The Byrds-”Mr. Tambourine Man”-Frankie Avalon-5/11/65

The Byrds SECOND time on TV, EVER!

The band made their televison debut just three days before this broadcast, 5/8/65 on “Shivaree”.

This is a very interesting video for many reasons.

First, Gene Clark is on a Fender Xll 12 string guitar (As opposed to Tambourine), Gene & David’s vocal mics are not in the mix until the second chorus.

AND; the coolest anecdote of all:

If you listen carefully, you can hear Gene Clark’s barritone vocal part in the second chorus during “In the jingle jangle morning I’ll come following you”.

This part was NOT on the record; reason being is that Gene’s vocals were on the same track as Leon Russell’s electric piano, which was taken out of the mix.

The vocals here are LIVE, while the music is the recorded backing track.

Another noteworthy point; Roger McGuinn isn’t even pretending to “Sinc” his guitar part correctly, by playing his famous “Scruggsy picking style”, but rather strumming in earnest. :-)

Watch Gene Clark butt in on Frankie Avalon!!

Our city is switching to smart meters soon. Electricity is cheaper at night, but why does time of day matter?

  • May 15, 2011 4:07 pm

It is a bit like the situation with train companies. They may not have quite enough capacity at rush hour, so they offer discounts at off-peak hours.

Of course, they could just get more trains, but they are very expensive, and if the usage is shuffled a little, it is enough. The problem is simple: you cannot store passenger space. You cannot use empty passenger space from the night during rush hour.

Electricity generation is quite similar: we cannot do much to store electricity. We pretty much have to use it as we produce it, and whatever equipment we have, that is the limit of what we can produce at one time. If electricity companies can encourage people to use power at non-peak times, they can use their existing facilities to provide it, thereby reducing the maximum requirements at peak time, otherwise it may mean building new and expensive additions.

This is not quite the whole story, since you can have a nationwide grid that shares power across large geographical areas, allowing plants in, say California to get power from, say Maine when main no longer needs so much and California does.

The monthly electricity bills in a city are normally distributed with a mean of $100 and a standard deviation?

  • May 9, 2011 10:39 pm

The monthly electricity bills in a city are normally distributed with a mean of $100 and a standard deviation of $15. If an electricity bill is randomly selected, find the probability that the bill is between $90 and $112.

a. 0.367

b. 0.183

c. 0.745

d. 0.536

z1=(90-100)/15 = – 0.67
z2 = (112-100)/15 = 0.8
Pr(-0.67 < z < 0.8) = 0.5367 <——–

Coro (x2)

Nunca te detengas
Haz lo que tú sientas
Sigue tu destino
Fuera del camino

Cheaper electricity for the consumer good or bad?

  • May 4, 2011 10:48 am

Hi! Doing a survey for my class and think itd be good to ask you lot!

Is it a good thing to have new technology that provides cheaper electricity for the consumer?

I need business related answers aswell as society based answers.. all answers will go in a table to develop a strong debate.

Thankyou

Good and Bad.

Good because consumer disposable income will go up as price of electricity fall. This means that they have more money to spend on other things they like.

Bad because this will lead to over use of the resources. If electricity is cheap, people will less likely to mind leaving their computer/tv on when they are not using it. I.e LESS incentive to save electricity. Therefore, it will be bad for the environment (global warming).

Hope this helps.
