Would british gas penalise me? i just moved into this new flat & i have signed nothing with them.
Ebico is the place to go, they don’t charge extra for having a pre payment meter , British Gas are useless

Get onto a Powergen credit meter immediately. Powergen are better & if you pay quarterly, it’s far cheaper than topping up. If you leave it on a top up meter, you’ll be paying out £20-£30 a WEEK – if you switch to a quarterly bill, you’ll pay no more than around £50-£60 a quarter, depending on usage.

yes you can,check out a price comparison website for the best deal in your postcode area,if you can ask to go on direct debit for the best price.its also worth asking british gas if your meter is carrying any debt from the previous tenant,this happens sometimes.

Most suppliers will let you use a pre-payment meter. British Gas (BG) shouldn’t penalise you at all just because you want to change suppliers !
As you say – you’ve signed nothing with BG so they have no hold over you anyway !
