I am currently with Southern Electric but they keep overestimating my bils and have now put their prices up (again!!). I have looked on various websites and have found EDF, Powergen and Npower to be the cheapest in my area, however all of these have a low customer rating. I read a story about powergen billing people who are on pre-pay meters but i wanted to know what experiences you have all had with these suppliers???
Many thanks!
I have checked prices on LOTS of websites, what i want to find is the BEST supplier out of the three, ie customer satisfaction, etc, etc,
I am with Npower and they are great. I used to be with British gas and you would not believe the hassle I had with them.
Npower are clear and concise and easy to deal with. I have on line information and dd payments for both. I can take reading myself and give them over the Internet to save having estimated bills all the time.. If I need to call them its a British person based in Britain I speak to (Not that I have anything against the other way its just I find the accent difficult and prefer to back our economy)
Hope this helps Michelle from Northamptonshire..

Try USwitch.com they check out prices for you

Powergen are the best out of those.

unless you use a lot or have been treated badly by your current supplier… do not bother … the charges equate to roughly the same (after they give you a nice introductory rate) and it is usually a lot of aggrivation … more than the ‘one simple call’ they advertise.

Switch every 6 months if you have to, NEVER get a pre-payment meter, they charge you anything from 60p to 1-80p a week, that’s before you start paying for your eletric.

My job
I have used Powergen before and they were fine. You also can get Tesco clubcard points with Powergen which is an added bonus.

i was with powergen last year, in rented accomodation and they were great. you get discount for combining and if you pay by monthly direct debit they discount you even more.
we were paying a little more than we were spending each month and they wrote suggesting that we lowered our payments, which was nice!
also when we moved and ended our contract they paid back the extra money we had in our account really quickly!

Npower is the best, we have not had any problems with them so far. You were with EDF, but after i stoped working for them they put their prices up and it was costing to much we had to change suppliers. Here is ther number for Npower give them a ring and go from there:- 08451663440. GOOD LUCK!
