It’s gas……….no question about it

gas is cheaper because it come naturally all the cost is in the provision ( piping and pumping expence), electric is generated and conected by wire (cheap) but both are supplied to new houses because both gas and elec companies want you money

Depends where you live. If you electric is owned by the municipality, that is cheapest. Gas is cheaper to heat with in colder climates, but electric heat pumps are better where the temps don’t get below 25. Your local builders more than likely know the cheapest energy costs, as it helps them sell homes.

Once and for all: It depends! What’s the electric price per KWh, and what’s the price per MBTU of gas? Find the conversion factors and do the math
Here in Seattle electric is now cheaper!
In spite of this, many new houses in this area are still being built for gas, as a lot of developers and or developements have been "locked into" a contract to provide it. For example: Friend of mine bought a house. Wanted gas for a fireplace. Was told to get gas service to his house, he could either: Get all his appliances heat etc as gas, and agree that any future houses built on his 3 acres would be exclusively gas, or: pay $25,000 to have the line ran in. Guess which one he picked?

To buy, electric appliances are cheaper. To run it all depends on your gas and electrical company!
