Remind him in writing and try get a written response. If he admits then you can go to smal claims court. If he ignores you, see if you can get copies magazines etc he subscribed in his name at the address where he owes electricity. Keep on hounding him by mail regariding the money he owes. If he is a rotten cad and continues to ignore you write it off as a bad loss.

you can take him to small claims court. No lawyers and its only like a $40 fee.

Try small claims court. Depending upon the amount, you might want to call this an experience and learn from it. Small claims filings can cost close to $200. Is it really worth your time? I suggest that next time you move into a unit that offers all utilities paid.

Number one: Did you have a written agreement with this person that show his responsibility for a third of the electric bill? If you do, then you can take him to the small court claims for the amount owe.If you don’t you need an attorney’s help.
